Safety Health & Environmental Management (SHEM) Steering Committee (SC) for Cornell Greenhouses

The SHEM SC is a forum to identify and discuss greenhouse Safety Health and Environmental issues, and to take action as appropriate.  Actions may include tools (e.g., checklists, posters, SOPs, etc.), and/or recommendations for policy, operational, and/or physical modifications; discussions with internal or external experts; and/or other activities as determined by the SHEM SC.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to ensure safety, health and environmental stewardship for the Cornell Greenhouse Community. We will work with stakeholders to implement and enhance the Cornell University Best Management Practices (BMP) plan for greenhouses.

Vision

The Cornell Greenhouse Community is a model of continually improving safety, health, and environmental stewardship.

Safety Health & Environmental Management (SHEM) Steering Committee for Cornell Greenhouses is continually reviewing and updating greenhouse and plant growth facilities best management practices. Record keeping and useful tools are created for the Cornell greenhouse managers, supervisors, growers and users.
